The department Chemical Engineering and Chemistry is one of the nine departments of Eindhoven University of Technology. It was established in 1957, shortly after the university was founded. The department has approximately 500 employees (411 fte), 14 full time professors, 370 Bachelor's and Master's students, about 145 doctoral candidates and 40 trainee design engineers. The department is located in the Helix and Matrix buildings on the TU/e campus. Sustainable Process Engineering (SPE) The Partnership Sustainable Process Engineering consists of the three groups Chemical Reactor Engineering headed by Dr. John van der Schaaf, the group Micro Flow Chemistry & Synthetic Methodology group of Dr. Timothy Noël and the Inorganic Membranes & Membrane Reactors group of Fausto Gallucci. The SPE partnership consists of 6 (associate) professors, 2 UDs, 10 postdocs, more than 35 PhD students and 6 support staff. The group's mission is to be among the world's top academic research groups in its field and to be leading in the development of novel technologies for new, highly efficient, inherently safe, and robust (micro)structured multiphase processing systems, which show the best productivity by a dedicated design of all relevant dimensions and optimum choice of dedicated operational procedures. The research of John van der Schaaf’ s Chemical Reactor Engineering group focuses on the development of catalytic and non catalytic multiphase reactors that use rotation to create high gravity and high shear conditions. These conditions lead to excellent interphase mass transfer, intraphase mixing, and fluid to wall heat transfer. In future research Van der Schaaf will focus on the performance of high gravity high shear equipment as a function of design, operating conditions, and fluid properties. The group collaborates with major industrial parties both national and international. Research in the Noël research group encompasses the development of new catalytic strategies and technologies for chemical synthesis. The catalytic targets are chosen in such a way that continuous flow microreactors and chemical engineering principles can make a substantial impact. The group strives to develop new technological tools that are of interest to the pharmaceutical industry and can overcome challenges in a variety of specialty applications, e.g. organic synthesis, chemical biology, material science, etc. The research of Fausto Gallucci at the Inorganic Membranes and Membrane Reactors (SIR) research group is related to the development of membranes and novel multiphase reactors, in particular membrane reactors and dynamically operated reactors. His research focuses on the interaction of heterogeneous catalysis, transport phenomena, and fluid mechanics in these novel multifunctional reactors. The SIR chair coordinates and participates in several large European Projects and works in strict collaborations with several industrial partners. Job requirements The fulltime secretary / management assistant will be providing support and assistance to the members of the SPE group in administrative and organizational activities. (S)he will act as the central contact point of the group. English is the day to day language. Among the activities are managing and monitoring the agendas of the staff members; process the received (e)mails and, if necessary, to take actions independently; prepare meeting agendas and take meeting minutes; prepare correspondence / emails and other (scientific) texts mostly in English and Dutch; arranging and organizing internal and external appointments; providing support for planning business travels and process travel permits and expense claims of all group members. Day to day activities will also comprise answering all kinds of questions of staff and students; the receipt of guests and visitors, and if necessary, help to arrange (hotel)accommodation and TU/e administrative procedures; provide practical information and assistance to guests, visitors and staff members; taking care of the registration of leave requests, illness and recovery reports (My TU/e). Furthermore planning, preparation and support of group meetings and gatherings, as well as social events of the group are part of your work, as well as collect and process management information and maintain the group archive; keep up to date of the registration of personnel and publications (Pure) and maintain the internal and external website of the group. Conditions of employment We offer you: a fulltime employment appointment will be for one year, initially with the possibility for a permanent appointment according to performance and unchanged conditions; a salary is offered between € 1992. and 3052, gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience (based on salary scale 6/7, CAO of Dutch Universities); plus 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end of year allowance; an attractive package of fringe benefits, including child daycare, savings schemes, and excellent sports facilities.
